Alright, let's do a quick explanation of Staggers in Abyssea.

Before explaining each in depth always remember that you CAN NOT stagger while an enemy is casting or performing a TP move. It is ALWAYS best to have only one person tanking and one person attempting to get stagger so that you can obtain it as fast as possible before killing the enemy.

Also there are certain mobs which have every attack considered as a TP move, so try to time your staggers for whenever a mob is generally finishing an attack round.

After defeating all 9 bosses and 6 Caturae, by going through the necessary cutscenes you can obtain an Abyssite of Discernment, this abyssite will give you a hint to what may stagger an NM whenever you perform an action that could be one of the staggers. (Any Magic to find out Yellow, Any Physical WS to find out Blue, Any Elemental WS to find out Red)

There are 3 types of Staggers.

Yellow !!

This Stagger is necessary for increasing the chance of getting Synth items and AF3 seals and +2 items. This one is always a magic that is either Elemental, Blue, Bard or Ninja (Ni Spell). The element of the spell will always match either the current, prior or following in game day. The Hint will always tell you it is a specific Element Magic.

Example: On Firesday, the element has a chance of being either:
Dark, Fire or Earth Spells

The Following is the List of spells it can be based on the Element:

Fire:

This stagger enhances the drop rate of Items and Equipment. This will always be a physical weaponskill and is based on the in game time of the day that you claim the mob at. The Hint will always tell you it is a specific Weapon Type Weaponskill

This Stagger helps with the drop rate for Key Items and Atma. This will always be an elemental weaponskill, however there is no way of knowing for sure which it might be (It does not seem to have a certain time or day specification). The Hint will always tell you it is a specific Element Weaponskill

These are the possible elemental weaponskills by Element:

Light
Tachi: Koki, Seraph Strike, Sunburst, Seraph Blade

Darkness
Energy Drain, Blade: Ei, Shadow of Death

Fire
Red Lotus Blade

Ice

Wind

That should provide all the necessary information you need for your Staggering to be successful.
